Contest & Submissions

READING PERIOD HAS CLOSED UNTIL JANUARY 2017.

Note that Hudson Whitman has received many manuscripts, and our publishing calendar is now full for fiscal year 2016/17. Please consider resubmitting in January. Thank you!

Hudson Whitman/Excelsior College Press (HW/ECP) currently welcomes unsolicited, electronic submissions for well-written nonfiction books and other projects that are both relevant to contemporary readers and align with the college’s academic strengths. Acquisitions areas include:

health care/ nursing
military interest
alternative higher education
cybersecurity
American culture & society

Book-length nonfiction manuscripts or professional proposals will be considered. In order to reduce our carbon footprint and to help streamline our manuscript management process, materials are accepted electronically via Submittable. Please click the link below to learn more about our submissions process or to send your work for consideration. Please note that we publish only 3-4 books a year, so competition is high.

If we feel your project shows promise, HW/ECP will contact you in approximately 6-8 weeks. Please tell us if you are submitting your proposal to other publishers and, if so, notify us in the event that another publisher offers you a contract.
